Meet The Staff
J. WilliamsHigher Level Teaching Assistant / Nursery Teacher - I am the Nursery teacher. I have worked at Pembroke Primary School for 18 years in many classes in both Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2. Having taught across the foundation classes for many years I am in the perfect position to help the nursery children learn the skills that will help them when they move up to BIG school ! My aim is to help the children to be confident, happy learners ready for new ideas and to learn about their world. We do t
I had the pleasure of beginning my journey as Head teacher of Pembroke Primary School in January 2016.
I will always remember the warm welcome I received from the whole community and it was this feeling of
‘family’, ‘togetherness’ and ‘warmth’ that attracted me to the role.
My ethos for learning is centred around well-being for all. Happy children learn. Happy staff facilitate this learning.
Happy community and families support the school and their child by working together in partnership with the school.
The African Proverb: ‘It takes a whole village to raise a child’ resonates soundly with me. A whole community of people are needed in a child’s life
for them to properly grow. To learn and experience things in a healthy way.
I also believe in developing and nurturing skills and values which help all reach their true potential throughout their life – characteristics such as:
Being Resilient, Confident, Enthusiastic, Motivated, Kind, Honest, Patient, Curious, Independent, Creative. It is these values that are at the core of everything we do.
Be kind, Be Happy, Be safe – Be the Best you can Be!
On a more personal note, I have 2 wonderful, now grown up, children and 2 grandchildren! Molly, the dog (who the children know very well from visits to school) is also
a huge part of our family. I support Manchester United, am a BIG F1 and Lewis Hamilton fan, enjoy music (especially live), cycling and travelling.
It takes a village to raise a child.
I started at Pembroke Primary in 2012 as Deputy Headteacher and absolutely love working at this school. We have a wonderful team of staff and amazing children, I feel very lucky to be part of the Pembroke Family.
I am Professional Learning Lead for the school and Health & Wellbeing Leader. Ensuring that all our staff and pupils are happy, supported and are able to make progress in all aspects of their learning is key and I am very excited about the launch of the new Curriculum for Wales in 2022. We are already transitioning to this new curriculum and it is exciting to make necessary changes to our current curriculum to make sure that all our learners have a successful future.
Outside of school life I am a Mummy to two young children who keep me very busy and family time is very important to me, we love camping and exploring the great outdoors. I am also a keen runner and spend much of my free time running with my local club and of course I enjoy the Daily Mile with everyone at Pembroke.
I am the Reception teacher and ALNCo at Pembroke Primary School. I joined the school after completing my final teaching practice in the Reception class. Along with curriculum requirements a key aspect of my role is to support the transition of our young pupils into school life. I’ve taught in both Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2.
As ALNCo my role is to support children with additional learning needs throughout mainstream provision and to work with the governing body to ensure the needs of the pupils are met along with advising and supporting other staff members in school. With the new changes to the ALN bill the role continues to be challenging and fulfilling.
I have been lucky enough to work with the fantastic children of Pembroke Primary for over 20 years! I am currently responsible for the Humanities Area of Learning and love to see, and work, with the enthusiasm and commitment of the Eco Committee challenging the school with projects to improve our environment. I am the Year 1 teacher with a passion for the Early Years, so you will usually find us busy creating, building and investigating inside and outside.
I currently teach year 2 but I have taught across the whole primary age range. I am the Foundation Phase Leader and part of the Senior Leadership team. This involves working with my colleagues to ensure all our pupils have an amazing learning experience from the minute they start in nursery or reception. I am the lead teacher for Language, Literacy and Communication which involves liaising with staff within school and within the south east Wales area on all things English and Welsh.
I am currently teaching Year 3. My role is to help facilitate the children’s learning and to guide and support them. It is lovely to see a child’s ambition and confidence grow and I am proud to be a part of their journey through education. I have a passion for Art and Design so enjoy helping the children to develop their creativity and inspiration.
I am one of the year 4 teachers and I share a class with Mrs Knight. I started teaching at Pembroke Primary in January 2017 and absolutely love working with the children and staff here.
I am responsible for leading the Welsh and Modern Foreign Language strand of LLC and I enjoy working with the Criw Cymraeg on projects to enhance the use of Welsh language around our school and community.
I am passionate about facilitating purposeful learning and hands on experiences that create a buzz of excitement in the classroom.
During my time at Pembroke, I have taught a variety of age groups in both Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2. I currently share the role of Year 4 teacher with Mrs Mellens, and we work closely together to support, encourage and inspire the pupils in our care. I am curriculum lead for Expressive Arts across the school.
I have enjoyed teaching across the school in both phases. In my current role I am responsible for leading, and keeping up to date with, Science and Technology. I enjoy sharing my passion for outdoor education with the children in our amazing grounds. This might be in Forest School, growing vegetables and flowers or just tending to our hive of bees.
I am currently year 6 teacher and phase leader for Key Stage 2. I am also responsible for leading the school in Maths. I enjoy teaching the children in their final stage of their primary school careers and ensuring they are ready to face the new challenges of secondary school. I particularly enjoy engaging the children in child inspired learning and helping them reach their full potential. It's exciting to find new and inspiring ways for the children to learn. Outside of school I enjoy photography and going for walks.
I have been fortunate to have worked at Pembroke Primary for over 12 years, covering PPA to begin with and then joined the ALC as one of the teachers. I have seen the ALC grow from one class to three and have been lucky to work with a dedicated team. I became ALC lead teacher in September this year and look forward to many more years working in the ALC watching it grow, develop and helping the children achieve their full potential.
I am Mrs Tyson and have worked at the school for some time, seeing many changes over the years. I have taught in all the key stages and now teach in the Additional Learning Centre.
I have worked as a teacher in Pembroke Primary for over 3 years now. I have worked in the ALC since I started here & I thoroughly enjoy supporting our children with additional needs in order to help them reach their full potential.
I am the Nursery teacher. We do this by teaching through play and focused activities in our wonderful Nursery and amazing garden.
