J. WAKLEY

I started at Pembroke Primary in 2012 as Deputy Headteacher and absolutely love working at this school. We have a wonderful team of staff and amazing children, I feel very lucky to be part of the Pembroke Family.

I am Professional Learning Lead for the school and Health & Wellbeing Leader. Ensuring that all our staff and pupils are happy, supported and are able to make progress in all aspects of their learning is key and I am very excited about the launch of the new Curriculum for Wales in 2022. We are already transitioning to this new curriculum and it is exciting to make necessary changes to our current curriculum to make sure that all our learners have a successful future.

Outside of school life I am a Mummy to two young children who keep me very busy and family time is very important to me, we love camping and exploring the great outdoors. I am also a keen runner and spend much of my free time running with my local club and of course I enjoy the Daily Mile with everyone at Pembroke.

A.BAXTER

I am one of the newest members of the Pembroke family, joining as Deputy Headteacher in September 2021. I am excited and privileged to begin my journey at Pembroke. I am Professional Learning Lead for the school and Health and Well-Being Leader. I am committed to the continued success of the school, ensuring that all of our pupils and staff are happy, valued and supported.  I am passionate about learning and teaching and ensuring that children receive the outstanding education they deserve. One which is enriching, challenging and nurturing. Outside of school life, I live in Cwmbran with my husband, 2 teenage children and my crazy cockerpoo called Bobby. I love to spend my time walking on the beautiful coastal paths of Pembrokeshire and enjoy paddle boarding and long lunches with friends.

L. TONKS

I am the Year 1 teacher and ALNCo at Pembroke Primary School. I joined the school after completing my final teaching practice in the Reception class. Along with curriculum requirements a key aspect of my role is to support the transition of our young pupils into school life. I’ve taught in both Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2.

As ALNCo my role is to support children with additional learning needs throughout mainstream provision and to work with the governing body to ensure the needs of the pupils are met along with advising and supporting other staff members in school. With the new changes to the ALN bill the role continues to be challenging and fulfilling.

C. REES

I have been lucky enough to work with the fantastic children of Pembroke Primary for over 20 years!  I am currently responsible for the Humanities Area of Learning and love to see, and work,  with the enthusiasm and commitment of the Eco Committee challenging the school with projects to improve our environment.  I am the Year 1 teacher with a passion for the Early Years, so you will usually find us busy creating, building and investigating inside and outside.

H.WINSER

I have been teaching for over 19 years and was very excited to join the Pembroke team in September 2021 as the Year Two teacher.  As a past pupil myself I feel a strong connection to Pembroke.  I am currently working alongside our Super Ambassadors to promote children's rights in our school in order for our children to grow up happy, healthy and safe.

N. STEPHENS

I currently teach year 3 but I have taught across the whole primary age range. I am the Foundation Phase Leader and part of the Senior Leadership team. This  involves working with my colleagues to ensure all our pupils have an amazing learning experience from the minute they start in nursery or reception. I am the lead teacher for Language, Literacy and Communication which involves liaising with staff within school and within the south east Wales area on all things English and Welsh.

L. MELLENS

I am one of the year 4 teachers and I share a class with Mrs Knight. I started teaching at Pembroke Primary in January 2017 and absolutely love working with the children and staff here.

I am responsible for leading the Welsh and Modern Foreign Language strand of LLC and I enjoy working with the Criw Cymraeg on projects to enhance the use of Welsh language around our school and community.

I am passionate about facilitating purposeful learning and hands on experiences that create a buzz of excitement in the classroom.

A. KNIGHT

During my time at Pembroke, I have taught a variety of age groups in both Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2.  I currently share the role of Year 4 teacher with Mrs Mellens, and we work closely together to support, encourage and inspire the pupils in our care.   I  am curriculum lead for Expressive Arts across the school.

S. GILES

I have enjoyed teaching across the school in both phases. In my current role I am responsible for leading, and keeping up to date with, Science and Technology. I enjoy sharing my passion for outdoor education with the children in our amazing grounds. This might be in Forest School, growing vegetables and flowers or just tending to our hive of bees.

J.SHEILDS

I started teaching at Pembroke in 2021. I currently teach the Year 6 class and am also responsible for Numeracy across the school. Additionally, I am also part of the school's Governing body in the role of Staff Governor. The thing I love most about working at Pembroke is the friendliness and warm welcome that I have received from colleagues, the children and families alike. From the moment you step through the school door, it's clear that our school is a building full of happiness. Outside of school, I enjoy playing golf, weightlifting and walking my border terrier - Cooper.

J. CARPENTER

I have been fortunate to have worked at Pembroke Primary for over 12 years, covering PPA to begin with and then joined the ALC as one of the teachers. I have seen the ALC grow from one class to three and have been lucky to work with a dedicated team.  I became ALC lead teacher in September this year and look forward to many more years working in the ALC watching it grow, develop and helping the children achieve their full potential.

N. TYSON

I am Mrs Tyson and have worked at the school for some time, seeing many changes over the years. I have taught in all the key stages and now teach in the Additional Learning Centre.

A. PATERSON

I have worked in Pembroke Primary for just over 2 years. I started in KS2. I now work in the Year 1 class. I really enjoy doing arts & crafts and being creative with the children. I love joining in with our morning dances and seeing the children happy. In my spare time I like to go for walks with my family.

S. WOOSTER

I have spent most of my 14 years as a Teaching Assistant in the Nursery at Pembroke Primary. I currently support the Reception teacher in enabling all our children to become happy, confident and independent explorers of the world around us. Being interested in how young children learn led me to complete an Open University degree in Childhood and Youth Studies four years ago (it’s never too late to learn). I love the outdoors, nature and walking - I am currently tackling the Wales Coastal path.
